How this website handles data.
This page is about reward.study, the website. The app is a separate thing and has its own privacy policy, which has not changed: the app collects nothing.
Section 1
Why this page exists separately
The app and the website are not the same product. The app runs on your device and keeps your household in your own iCloud, with nothing sent to me. The website is a few pages describing it, and it counts how many people read them.
Mixing the two into one policy made the app's promise harder to read and risked making it sound weaker than it is. So they are two pages now.
Section 2
Server logs
The web host writes an ordinary server log for every request, as web servers do. It records the IP address, the page asked for, the time and the browser's user agent. It is kept for security and to see whether the site is working.
This happens before any page loads and does not depend on your choice below. It is the minimum a web server can do and still be a web server.
Section 3
Counting visits
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, see which pages get read and which ones people leave from. That is how I decide what to write next and what to fix.
Nothing is requested from Google until you press Accept. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no Google script is ever loaded and no cookie is set. You can confirm that in your browser's network panel.
If you do accept, Google Analytics sets cookies, records the pages you visit, an approximate location from your IP address, and which site you arrived from. Advertising features and ad personalisation are switched off. Google processes this on servers that may be outside your country, including in the United States.
Section 4
What is kept in your browser
Your answer to the banner, so it stops asking. It is stored on your own device and never sent anywhere.
If you accept, Google Analytics also sets its own cookies. If you decline, there are no cookies at all beyond your answer.
Section 5
Changing your mind
Clear this site's data in your browser settings and the banner asks again on your next visit. Declining then stops the counting.
There is nothing to unsubscribe from, because there is no mailing list, no account and no profile to delete.
Section 6
What this website still does not do
- No advertising
- No embedded video or social buttons
- No fonts or icons loaded from anyone else
Every typeface and image on the site is served from reward.study itself. Apart from the visit counting described above, the site still requests nothing from any other domain.
Section 7
Who runs this site
Reward Study is made by Nikola Sretenovic, trading as Handful Apps, in Norway. I am the one person who reads the analytics and the one person who answers the email.
The app is sold through the App Store, and Apple is the merchant of record for every purchase. Questions about this page, or about anything else, go to the address on the support page.
