Price learning like everything else

A set of maths problems is a task. It goes in the same list as the chores, it is worth a number of credits you choose, and it is approved the same way.

That flattening is the whole trick. Twenty minutes of reading, a page of sums and the washing up all become work with a price, and none of them is the special one that comes with a lecture attached. You stay in control of what counts and what it is worth, which means the balance can shift toward learning in whatever week you want it to.

The generator

Topics and difficulty, not age

You pick the topic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions or percentages. You pick the difficulty, easy, medium or hard, and how many problems you want, from 5 up to 20.

Notice what is not in that list. The practice is not tuned by age, and that is on purpose: two children the same age are rarely at the same place in maths, and one of them always ends up bored while the other is lost. Age bands do exist elsewhere in the app, where they sort which task templates get suggested first, but they have nothing to do with the maths.

So a nine year old who is quick can be on hard fractions while their older sibling works through easy division, without either of them being handed a label.

The word problems

Written on the device, and read by you first

Apple Intelligence can wrap each generated problem in a short story on a theme you choose, so a plain subtraction becomes a question about trains, or animals, or football. The numbers and the answers stay exactly as generated. Only the wording around them changes.

All of it runs on the device. No prompt, no answer and no child's name is sent anywhere, which is the only reason this feature exists in an app that holds no data of yours.

You read the whole set before your child sees any of it, and you can regenerate any problem that reads badly. Word problems need a device that supports Apple Intelligence with it switched on.
